I recently graduated from a recording school myself. Unfortunately, because Pro-Tools is such high end software, they have designed it so we pretty much have to use DigiDesigns software. It comes with the Pro-Tools software and you can get them on e bay for around 350-400 bucks.

But if it does have analog outs, you could use it with the 001. (I think the 001's are 7-8 hundred bucks though). If you had an analog mixer, you could use it in conjunction with the digi 001.
